Four Faculty members Mrs. Dimple Saproo, Mr. Chandra Shekhar, Mr. Chain Singh, and Mr. Ashish Kr. Luhach from Dronacharya College of Engineering attended a National Conference on Government Public Initiatives for Skill Building through National Vocational Education Qualification Framework (NVEQF) and Employability Enhancement Training Program (EETP) in Information Technology & Telecom Sector on 26-November 2013 at Ashok Convention Centre, New Delhi.

Government has proposed the “National Vocational Education Qualification Framework (NVEQF)” to integrate vocational education with the current conventional educational streams across school and higher education providing an opportunity and incentive to students to explore a larger universe of eventualities. The AICTE is entrusted with the responsibility of implementing the NVEQF which allows cross mobility of students and their absorption in Industry with certain skill gained over a fixed period of time or their seamless integration into higher learning that enable them to acquire formal degree and higher skill so that they perform higher level jobs in Industry. AICTE has developed General and Vocational contents in 14 Sectors with 58 Specializations available.

The conference was inaugurated by Sh. Kapil Sibal, Hon’ble Union Minister, Ministry of Communication & Information Technology and Law & Justice, Govt. Of India and Chaired by Dr. M. M. Pallam Raju, Hon’ble Minister for Human Resource Development, Govt. of India and other officers from MHRD, DIT, DOT, BSNL and NIELIT.

The Council, in association with the Domain experts, is relentlessly functioning to develop the vocational contents in the upcoming skill areas as per demands from the Industry and has created detailed content in new sectors of Telecommunication in association with BSNL and NIELIT.

AICTE, in association with BSNL has designed the content in the area of “Telecommunication” from the perspective of defined job roles at different levels under the scheme of NVEQF in 7 streams to facilitate students in getting state-of-art Telecom equipment based operational Skills. AICTE in association with National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), formerly DOEACC Society, an Autonomous Scientific Society of the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DEITY), developed Vocational Content for 7 Certification Level of NVEQF under a  new specialization in IT Sector by the name “NIELIT certified IT Professional (NCITP)” under NVEQF. It aims to generate qualified manpower in the area of Information Technology (IT) at the national level, by utilizing the facilities and infrastructure available with the institutions/organizations in the non-formal sector.

AICTE had already signed a MoU with BSNL on 27th February 2013 to use the training facilities and faculty of BSNL for the benefit of students in AICTE approved institutions under its Employability Enhancement Training Program (EETP). It facilitates technical institutions to respond to the needs of providing state of art Telecom equipment based operational skills to engineering graduates to enhance their qualification, competence and employability by enhanced skill upgradation.

The main objectives of NVEQF are:

1. Bridge skill gap and provide trained manpower to various emerging service sector in India.

2. Prepare the youth for a vocation of their choice.

3. Reduce unemployment by supplying world class skilled people.

4. Reduce cost and improve productivity of services and manufacturing by providing skilled manpower to international standard.

5. Full mobility between formal, Vocational streams of education and the job market with multiple point entry and exit.
