Hon’ble Governor stated that “Transforming Education” is equivalent to transforming India. Human Values, good character and Personality Development are the outcomes of good education.

It was brought out that world has been turned into a small village due to the growth of the internet & smart phones etc. We are living in an age of super specialty. Further, Creativity and Innovation are very important. Energy of youth should be channelized towards Creativity and Innovation.

The syllabus of professional courses needs a relook every six months and revision every two to three years to keep the course curriculum in tune with the requirements of the time. In fact, the students need to be educated for life and not just to complete the course.

Our Education system must adapt to the change. The change is not happening in our Education system as we are stuck with the old ideas. There is need to redefine the education system. There should be more contribution to Research. In fact there cannot be any new knowledge without research. There should be proper fund allotment for Research. There is need to change the mindset of the students through proper education system. A good value system has to be established and respected.

As regards Industry Academia interaction, it was brought out that they should move together and support each other’s requirements.

The numbers of Indian students going abroad are on the rise. In year 2012, one lakh & eighty nine thousand students went abroad for higher education. Our private universities should provide a blend of teaching and research so that Indian students opt for higher education in India itself.

Overall the Panel discussion was quite interesting and it provided a platform for listening to various view points from well-established industry executives as well as learned Academia.
